More Than Sticks and Bricks –Volunteers and Donations Build A Family’s Future
Fundraising committee is now forming to meet Byers expenses

Corvallis, Ore. (July 12, 2007) – Hundreds of volunteers are working with community donations alone to complete a green-built dream home for the Byers family of Corvallis, Ore. by Saturday, July 14.  ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition chose the close-knit Byers family because of their positive and proactive approach to solve what many would label insurmountable problems, as well as Boey's activism towards childhood cancer treatment.

The Oregon premiere of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has inspired Oregonians statewide, with more than 50 vendor companies and subcontractors, hundreds of skilled workers and Legend Homes' staff volunteering to build an environmentally efficient and safe home for Boey and her family.

Long-time community leader Mario Pastega, president of Pepsi Bottling Company of Corvallis, is providing all bottled beverages, and Corvallis owned Dutch Bros has donated all the coffee for the cast, crew and volunteers during the weeklong build.  Arctic Ice of Springfield, Ore. has also donated their product to the extreme team.  In addition, dozens of local businesses have donated tents, port-a-potties, generators, furniture, RVs, dinners and snacks for the work crews.  A growing list of businesses and organizations that have made donations can be viewed at www.legendhomes.com.

Legend Homes encourages you to get involved and help this deserving family realize their dream of living in a safe, clean and environmentally green home that doesn’t threaten Boey's or Joe's health.  Go to www.legendhomes.com, click on the Extreme logo, click on Volunteer and fill-out the form.   In addition, the website provides a link to make donations, directly benefiting the Byers family.

Founded in Portland, Oregon in 1965, Legend Homes is the award-winning builder of more than 12,000 home sites, homes, town homes and condominiums in planned communities throughout Portland and Corvallis.  Their high-quality, green-built homes are crafted with premium materials to ensure structure strength, better air quality and energy efficiency.  With more than 10 communities throughout the region, there are new homes designed to fit the needs of almost any prospective homebuyer.  For more information, visit www.legendhomes.com.

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," which has won back-to-back Emmy Awards as Best Reality Program (non-competitive), is entering its 5th season on ABC.  The program is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding.  Denise Cramsey is the executive producer; and David Goldberg is the president of Endemol USA.
